UCSB scholars present at AAA in SF

Lynnette Arnold presented two talks at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association in San Francisco in November. The first was entitled " 'Como que era Mexicano': Territorial Borders and Ideologies of Ethnonational Distinctiveness in Cross-Dialectal Passing," and the second, coauthored with UCSB undergraduate alumna Mayra Alvarado and Carpinteria High School SKILLS student Melinda Sanchez, was entitled "Future Farmers and Today‘s Youth Experts: Student-Led Research in a High School Agricultural Education Program."

Rachel Cranfill presented a talk entitled ""Embodied Math: Managing the Boundaries Between Physical and Abstract Space in Undergraduate Peer Explanations" at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) Conference in San Francisco in November.

Audrey Lopez presented a talk entitled "Ghanaian Youth Interpreters: Mediating the Global and Local" at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) Conference in San Francisco in November.

Chris VanderStouwe presented a talk entitled "Boundaries of Participation: Anchoring and Body Torque as Embodied Resources for Negotiating Multiple Interactional Engagements" at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) Conference in San Francisco in November.

Shawn Warner-Garcia presented a talk entitled "Gestural Resonance: The Negotiation of Intersubjective Meaning through Embodied Action" at the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) Conference in San Francisco in November.
